Mini is the old style has a two piece bolt together caliper so you can change caliper halts for rotor size fitting etc, mono is single piece caliper, runs on different pads to the original mini.

i have the older minis i upgraded the pistons and noticed a big improvement in heat dissipation, ie i no longer cooked my fluid on big alpine descents

been running Minis on one bike, and Mono Minis on t’other for a few years and can’t tell them apart – both seem excellent, reliable, easy to service (Minis are prob easier)

Nope, they are alloy. The phenolic pistons are on the X2’s.

Not 100% sure, but I believe the Minis and Mono Minis have both different calipers and different levers

Monos stared with the Phem pistons and cahnged over during production.
Minis could also have the Alpine pistons which had a stainless insert.
Monos started with the same resv/lever as the mini then moved to the silver one.
the Mono is a bit lighter and has a more solid feel due to the solid caplier.
But considering the price you can buy minis for (£25 an end) and you can still get all the spares. they are great brakes.

You can’t get the old style black master cylinder body/res anymore (at least not new), but the newer style silver ones will work. Agree that they’re great brakes though, either version
