I took my cassette off for the first time since I had my wheels built up about 8 months ago. I have a Hope Pro II rear hub. I pretty much had to leaver the damn cassette off the freehub! The splines seem to be made of marshmallow!

Is this a screw up on Hope's part? Can I ask them for a warranty replacement or do I have to fork out £50 for a new one every time I want to do some maintenance?

I've read about one or two other people had this problem. How many more of you have found this?

What cassette are you running? Are the sprockets on a carrier or loose? Hope specify that you need to use a cassette with the sprockets on a carrier to stop then eating into the aluminium freehub body.

I think the first 5 are on a carrier and the last few are loose.

The standard ones are made of dairylea and do not like casettes without carriers. Fit a steel freehub body on it and then you can run any casette without it self destructing.
