About to replace my old BB (HTII) with a Hope stainless unit for use with my Evolve XC chainset.

Im worried about side loading the bearings seeing as you are meant to bottom the crank out on the axle when tightening up. Should I be?

I have installed the 2 chainline adjuster spacers as described in the raceface install instructions to give a 50mm chainline so am wondering if these will press on the bearing when everything is cranked up to the alarming torque required by these cranks!

If your BB shell is faced to 73mm or a smidge under you should be fine, problems will occur if you’re over.(or 68mm if that’s your shell width)

Its 68mm with the spacers fitted – sorry, should maybe have stated that.

Shouldn’t be a problem, the crank butts up against a stop on the axle. Problems only occur if the BB shell is slightly too wide causing preload on the bearings, lightly tighten the cranks and feel the resistance to turning, if it increases to a large degree when you fully tighten then you have too much preload.
