Ha! we will have a go Long wheelbase, lots of traction and low gears.
Fat bike low PSI traction for me, finger crossed

Trouble is we are both old and unfit
Good climbers / fit strong folk should be able to get a tandem up almost anything as it won't wheelie and you have a lot of traction. However Julie and I did blow up a few freehubs trying

there look to be a fair few entrants who are handy with a bike, I think my mid-table mediocrity is in danger of being reduced to bottom-third loserdom (I'm glad rusty has entered so I won't be last), I'll make up for it in the pub later
oh and tthew you're lame, you had an L shaped sofa to sleep on and a 6am alarm courtesy of your favourite niece, you chose Northwich????

woah woah woah! Bottom third loserdom?
Every one who enters htn is a winner. Everyone.

Cheeky sod Hornby.
I've not been last yet!
And as long as Louie's wife keeps making him go home after the first lap I never will be

6am alarm courtesy of your favourite niece,
which is preferable to a 5am face full of Smokie's arse I suppose.
but yes, I did. Soz.

Ok guys, I sort of understand how the winner of the event is selected but that's of little interest to me tbh. I really need to get my head around strategies at the other end of the race. Say if I'm 20 yards past the finish line when the 2 hrs is up can I stop and turn around without having to ride that final lap or would I end up as a DNF if I did that?

depends on how well you can beg

Say if I'm 20 yards past the finish line when the 2 hrs is...
May I suggest that you "lurk" in the bushes with everybody else then sprint for the line at 2 hr 0 min 5 sec.

Whooo! it's official - lurking's allowed. I'm good at that. It's the pedalling bit I struggle with. Cheers Harry boy.

If you lurk within sight of the man on the PA (me) expect to be mocked.

as a newbie.. what does MTFU stand for?
Man. The. F#ck.Up.

MTFU Hill will be sponsored, flagged and bannered this year so we'll have to give it a different name as I'm not sure that Buff® will want MTFU written across all the photos.

I'm not sure that Buff® will want MTFU written across all the photos.
I dunno, it'd certainly make a good advertising strategy?
Things getting too hot? Get out your BUFF and MTFU!

BTFU perhaps?

BUFT
Bike Up F*nny T*ts

maybe not

It worked for ****... why not for Buff?
Personally I need a GTFU sign though, just to encourage me in my minority gender.

I'm thinking of doing some sort of Radio 1 Roadshow style thing whilst we're waiting for the results to come in.

Free stuff for people who are prepared to make dicks of themselves (not just fat bike riders).

at the race or during the entry process?
;o)

people who are prepared to make dicks of themselves
Did someone call?
Posted 4 months ago # -
are you racing jules?
Posted 4 months ago # -
I'm thinking of some sort of cross between Run-A-Round and Simon Says with Buffs®.
G...G...G...G...GO!

All this is subject to the quantity of Buffs® and whether I can be arsed.

can we get Stuart hall involved?
Posted 4 months ago # -
We tried to get Frank Sidebottom for the first one.

Me? Race? With MY reputation?
No, but I should be there taking photos
