Are they any good? They were a bit shite when I was a kid, silver shadow was for the kids who’s folks wouldn’t spring for some adidas or nike. Seen some decent looking waterproof outdoor trainers that might be ok to wear on the bike. Are they any good or is it worth paying double the price for some Merrells?

I find them pants tbh, mainly because IME the midsoles are so squidgy that they are unsuitable for any serious walking etc. give ’em a good twist and bend in your hands to check.

Is high tech one of the brands that the Sports direct guy has bought – makes cheap trainers – brands them hi-tech / karrimoor / lonsdale etc then sells them at a fraction of the retail price which was never charged?

Or have I got it mixed up?!

They are not owned by Sport Direct, still privately owned.

Probably worth a punt if they are cheap enough.

IIRC they are still a family owned business from Holland. I’ve got a pair of boots, given to me by a rep, and they’ve been brilliant. eVent lining, vibram sole and a coating that stops dirt sticking to them.

I loved my Magnums, they were an excellent boot.

    Magnums are fantastic.

Never tried anything else they make though.

But it proves they can make awesome footwear if they want to.
