good evening to you all, im a bit stuck on a new frame. I’m looking for something which i can throw about but also take on long rides, 160mm travel is what id like, i’ve been looking at a few and these have caught my eye; corsair marque, orange alpine 160, spesh sx trail, norco fluid. But truthfully theres just too many out there.

Can anyone recommend anything which may suit my needs 🙂

    cheers joe

Go down to 150mm and buy a heckler – like my old prophet but better 🙂

possibly Upto 1500, but may look at picking the frame up ‘used’

never really though of a heckler but will definatly look into that! thanks!

See if you can get a used trek remedy or a spesh enduro. Good bikes, good value. If you want boutique shiney, maybe a turner 5 spot or the new knolly chilcotin.

If you want a bike for long rides I’d rule out the SX Trail. I have one, it’s a great bike for messing about on, but a real slog up any noteworthy hill!

I am completely biased, but these are killer

Another vote for Heckler. Run mine with Talas 160/120. A bike for all occasions.

I get all gushy on the subject but I can’t recommend the Cotic Hemlock too highly, absolutely superb machine.

Santa Cruz Nomad, great all rounder, and can be built up fairly light,

I preferrd mine to the Heckler, climbs better and is quicker to ride,

and not as flexy at the rear, the Alpine 160 felt heavy/ sluggish to me

compared to the Nomad. I have an Orange 5 at the moment , great bike

but the Nomad is better, IMHO. 😀

If I had the money I would change back to the Nomad without

    hesitation.

5 Spot with a coil shock is well worth a good look too. I’d say that as I have one of course. Just go try as many as you can really, plenty of choice out there.

what about a marin quake? Get them with shocks on ebay about £400. Make sure to get 12mm dropouts (or whatever takes your fancy)

I would say a Transition Covert – I know folk who use them for downhilling but also as an all day bike. Not too heavy, can take serious punishment and a good pedaller.

I have Lyriks on my Heckler. With the fork wound down it climbs pretty well. Point it downhill and it just loves it.

sBrock, I lost my job a while back so I sold the Nomad to pay the bills,

got another job and bought an Orange Strange 5, the protoype to the

latest 5, nice bike does most things pretty good, but I do miss the

Nomad, it suited me really well, my two most favourite bikes are the

Nomad and I also had a P7 which was fantastic but killed my back 😀

Nomad hopefully next year, the new NP Mega looks like a goodone to

    think about.

+1 for the Nomad. Astonishing climbing ability for a bike you can also go downhill racing on.

the Norco fluid and fluid LT get good reviews and is quite cheap as they are not considered bling.

which is nice as mine was cheap.

    i like it alot.

+1 for the Nomad – a truely awesum bike that can fly done the hills as you expect but equally happy to climb back up them.
Used frame would be in your price range and if owners are anything like me it will be lovingly looked after every single day.
