Swapped to flat bars on my cx bike (I know, but I’ve a long term back injury), and struggling with front shifting – XT shifter, Ultegra triple mech. I know the spring tension is stronger on road mechs and there’s no trimming available on mtb shifters, but can’t get it to shift from big to middle ring – drops all the way to granny.
Suggestions on making this work please.

You’ll probably have to bugger about with the way you route the cable onto the mech and even then there’s no guarantee it’ll work. Easiest solution would be to fit a flat bar road shifter but obviously this will cost money.

Yeah, looked at that – would need new mech to match. I’m sure I’ve had the set up working before – cable routing may be it. Ta
