I ride a lot in the Dales and Lakes, but for some reason I’ve never ridden in the Peak District. Perhaps it’s the thought of driving through Halifax and Huddersfield to get there.

Anyhow, I’m looking for a fun route for tomorrow to get me started. Not too rough and gnarly, about 20-25 miles or so, preferably in the northern end of the Dark Peak.

I’ve got the VG guide, but any suggestions of stuff that will be riding well this week? Cheers in advance.

20-25 miles – bring food, you’ll need it. Ditch the book, some of the best dh are climbs!

Ladybower is the obvious place to start. However, if you’re coming from the north (why?) I’d start Langsett – over Cut Gate and up and down Whinstone Lee Tor and back over Cut Gate
    Or….
Start Hayfield and do the Jacobs Ladder route with added Castleton…

2nd ditch the book, it will only end in frustration

Cheers – I guess something starting from Langsett or Heatherdene/Derwent would fit the bill pretty well.
