Happened to me a year or so back and after much faffing I eventually sorted it… but I can’t remember how now.

Anyone got any advice? I tried a couple of recommendations found on the interweb, and updated Java but no joy so far.

Running Windows 10, on a pc.

    Thanks.

Do you actually use Java? I’d uninstall it personally.

    Run a Malwarebytes scan.

Dunno, but I had great help from a lady at Google when I posted on the help forum (https://productforums.google.com/forum/). Even gave me links to download a Beta version and kept bugging me for progress!

Ah, I thought a few websites used Java so you needed it.

Ah ok, I just looked through the google forum and tried some of the advice before but no joy.

Sounds like I’m having a similar problem after upgrading to Win10.

Chrome’ll work for 5-10 mins and then crash.

Going into Task Manager shows several chrome.exe thingys running. I think everytime you click on chrome to try & re-start it, it runs the executable but it doesn’t actually work.

Sometimes ‘end task’ on all the chrome.exe thingys sorts it out, but invariably I just end up swapping to MS Edge & going from there.

    Uninstalling & re-installing didn’t sort it.

Very few these days, and modern versions of Java disable browser support by default anyway (it’s a massive security risk).

Chrome doesn’t support Java anymore, as Cougar says.

I had some problems on a Chromebook. Disabling extensions worked, and then gradually turned back on the ones I was missing.

No, the random post from the Ukranian IP address.

I suspect I’ll be digging out the hammers this afternoon.

Right’o I’ll try the beta version (not sure what that means exactly).

    Thanks

It’s the beta version, i.e. beta than the broken one. Wait until you get the betarer version!
