  • Help! getting confused over 12mm rear axles again!

Ok, will a pair of wheels from a Cube bike with X12 dropouts be the same as a pair of wheels from a Yeti with 12 x 142 chips?

Anyone one know for sure? Anyone got a Cube with these Ringle Radium wheels fancy getting a tape measure out and telling me the axle dimension of their rear hub?

Yes they will – X12 and Shimano (yeti) use different axles but have the same hub dimensions (thank god). Both 142x12mm hubs.

Thanks! I assume the X12 is a ‘dropout standard’. I’ll be glad when it all settles down!

Yep – thread pitch and clamping method. I forgot the maxle system too. This page gives a reasonable summary of the different hub standards:
