Use a suitable drift and give a good whack, should come out easily enough. If you have a vice then clamp the head set and twist the frame.

I wouldn't clamp the cups in a vice if you want to reuse them

If you've got the right tool, then yes - pop it in and hammer away. If you're doing it with a drift or similar, then go slowly and tap opposite sides.

I've got a superstar one, does exactly what it says on the tin!

I just use a bit of (soft) metal pipe, tapping either side bit by bit..
Takes about 6 taps to get it out...Can leave the frame in a work stand as it's the 'shock' that drives it out...

I use an old metal bracket and a hammer. Never failed yet.

The tool pictured shouldnt need a hammer. Drop it onto the cup a couple of times and it should pop out.

If your using the correct tool, the only thing to watch for, is where the cups fly to when they leave the frame; dependant on how well they were installed in the first place.
Using that design of tool should need a hammer, the superstar one looks to be springy steel and will probably bounce if dropped on the races, the Cyclus one is more heavy duty, but still needs a dead blow hammer.

For top marks you have to catch the top cup in your hand when it pops out of the frame.......or better still in your apron pocket like what I do :0) . Cytec level 4 shizzle that is .
