I’ve got a friend in Canada who rides a Norco Sight and he swears by it (he’s not the smallest of guys, either, and a pretty fast DHer).

I hope it’s not a common problem as my brother has just bought one.

Ah more of this indestructible carbon stuff…
Hopefully you will get it resolved quickly.
Buy a metal one next time!

Hope that’s a no cost replacement under warranty as would have expected you to have known about any external impact.
I’m too old git minded to go carbon!

Exactly where my mates one broke a couple of weeks ago…

What’s happened there then? Rock launched off the back tyre and wedged into the tube?

When the rear suspension is under full compression , does the rear tyre touch that tube at all? take all the air out of the shock and see what happens when you squash is all the way down.

Looks like it could have been caused by rear tyre bashing hard into seat tube at full compression.

Seems to me that the stresses in FS frames are so big, magnified by leverage, that the frame has to be heavily over-built if it isn’t going to break. Designers don’t always get it right.

    Really???

Any update on how he got on with warranty?

There’s no scoring, scuffing or strike marks there at all for it to be a rock/tyre strike

Seatpost extension? or just not fit for purpose i.e. design fault?

To me that curve in the seat post tube is just to much to begin with.

Hope you get a replacement sorted soon mate.

Plenty of these sold and I’ve not heard of them having that issue before – must be manufacturing fault you’d think.

I dropped it off this afternoon at Evans in Glasgow. They are doing a warranty assessment in the morning.

I don’t know how to post pics or do quotes but my mate got a full warranty swap offer off Evan no problem. However he didnt want another Norco so he had something different and a bit less of an effeminate build to it- Santa Cruz I believe

i’d be more worried about that than the crack! Was given a definite no by their staff member for a Trek claim. I politely asked him to actually ask Trek and low an behold it was repaired under warranty. You may need to pester them a bit to get it resolved in a reasonable timescale.

    Best of luck!

Trying to cheer myself up ATM.

Laughed when I looked back on this, forgot my mate took this pic earlier in the day.

    Feeling the heat….

Is that an oval chain ring on there? If so, who’s it by?

I’m asking the important questions here 😉

    No, not oval.

    Any news from Evans, Alan?

(I ask because a friend has pretty much the same bike…)

Evans have said they think it’s a warranty job, but are waiting to hear back from Norco.

They said this could take 4 – 6 weeks!

Not ideal given the time of year.

BTW: I made a mistake in an earlier post, I actually only had it 13 days when it happened.

How do I respond to this now?

4 to 6 weeks is totally unacceptable whatever time of year it is.
