    the world sky thing yet?

Pretty accurately summed up by Steve Bell

Dave was always going to do the right thing by his supporter and regular dinner party guest. But it was Vince Bloody Cable, who i thought had more sense, who gave in to his vanity and stupidity and handed it to Murdoch on a plate.

Welcome to democratic Media Berlesconi style. Pathetic! And deeply deeply worrying

    No we haven’t.

Who gives a toss? There’s always the BBC

Still not a done deal. If they don’t offer enough dough, BSkyB won’t sell. The £8 a share they offered last time was refused.

Oh I don’t know. At least Berlusconi has a certain comedy appeal. In a ‘lets all laugh at the bald corrupt old peado’ fashion

how so? or was your statement just rhetoric?

I’m not entirely sure it’s worth getting fraught about.

Didn’t he already have enough clout at BSkyB to get whatever he wanted with or without owning the whole thing? There may be some naivety in this argument but it does seem like a fight that was lost a long time ago. Probably more important to put your weight behind maintaining the BBC as a credible competitor.

Not sticking up for him by the way, I dislike him as much as the next man and won’t have any sky / news international products or services in the house.

    No, not at all.

    No, not at all.

So are you going to explain then, or is it a secret? I’m genuinely interested btw, not just looking for an argument.

    well, maybe a little. 😉

i assume he will sell sky to some mates as well for proper neutrality.
how so the BBC – well they have just made their ex chairman and ex MP the chair of the guvernors for starters – clearly a non political appointment showing thier light touch to regulation eh

    is it a secret?

Don’t be silly, wasn’t Murdoch the second person through the door of Downing street after the election? Cameron is just waiting for his Hutton moment before he starts ‘opening up’ the BBC to competition. It really is only a matter of time.

    No.

I can’t be arsed to dig up links.

    Sorry.

Bit pointless making the statement then.

Politicians trying to influence the BBC’s journalistic integrity is hardy a just a Tory trait though is it? Or is your memory really that short?

That’s not what I’m talking about.

Bit pointless making the statement then.

Well I’m not sure that it was pointless, but even it was, does it matter ? Is there something wrong with making pointless statements ? Do they all have to have a point ?

BTW, arguing against something when you don’t even know what the argument is, sounds a bit pointless to me 💡

Steve Bell is about as funny as a four-year-old writing “poo” on the wall.

    Mash nailed it. As ever.
