Thats 4 rides now and it's still working?

Only bought it as apparently they take normal off the shelf bearings so can be replaced.

did you use a rock?

If so, job's a good 'un.

No rocks were harmed in the building of my bike.

Ah, in that case I'll buy 5 for all my bikes.

Mine's actually been fine too, much to my suprise – I only bought it because it was pretty cheap, a nice colour and most importantly because the bearings are easy to replace on them which is what I was expecting to do after two rides.

I didn't use a rock to fit though so maybe that's where I went wrong 😉

a simple production error has led to one actualy working fruit and the octupi are working to correct this anomally as I type.
Actually a mate has used one for over a year in all weathers without issue.

They all use an off the shelf bearing as far as I can make out…

Admit it the colours is why you bought it. 🙂

Shiamno use a different size to standard – 6mm wide instead of 7mm IIRC

The shimano ones are a kind of cup'n'cone sealed bearing, only seems to have half an outer race to narrow then down a bit.

I bought the superstar thinking it would be good just as some £20 cups to put my own bearings in. If it makes it through the summer I'll be happy.

They're not too bad for the money, IMO. Best thin is that it's very easy to pop the seals off and whack new grease in them. I had a cheap on on my SS which did some real poor weather riding and it lasted nearly a year, and a ceramic on on my Yeti which did lots of miles (Including a sub-aqua week on the Trans Wales) and was still spinning freely when I sold the bike. IIRC I regreased that one once too.
