I know a friend that’s bought one, but has just realised the past reputation… What would I tell him?

Does he have a shaven head, and tattoos that herald “love” and “hate”?
If not, just get on with it, they’ve been rehabilitated and current in men’s fashion for about 4 or 5 years.

I hear they’re going to be all the rage for Autumn Winter 16.

I love a Harrington. Unfortunately I have a shaved head (too bald for anything else)…

His image is akin to an uglier Jay Tattoo fixers. Swept back parted hair beard no tats. That’ll be fine then.

I wear one with Fred Perry’s and DM’s. I still seem to make it home alive after a night out.

Nothing wrong with a Harrington jacket, at least it’s not a blouson rally jacket with monogrammed sports car team detailing.

Lad wearing one while walking around Tesco this evening albeit with shaved head, bleached jeans and DMs.
Saw a full on spikey haired punk in same said supermarket this evening too.
It’s the 1970s all over again.

I also have two of the Vulpine variety and they’re not really Harringtons.

His is a Ben Sherman one, olive green with small red checks inside.

Harrington jackets were worn more by ‘suede-heads’, the more socially acceptable off-shoot of skins, worn with Fred Perry shirt, Levi’s Sta-Prest tonics and brogues, or Doc Marten shoes, IIRC.

I was possibly thinking more of the Crombie than the Harrington, but I certainly remember seeing suedes wearing Harringtons, along with Tonic strides.
Not a bad look, as far as street fashion goes.
