Signed up for a race that was 70Km (measured properly to 65Km) with 2200m of climbing coming out of winter down here with a mere 2200m of climbing. So today I started with the 65km race today and bailed down onto the 40km. Not many times that the words coming out of peoples mouths was Brutal, tough, smashed having done the IoM E2E a couple of times that was longer and won quicker sort of put it into perspective.

So at the end of the rambling did you enter something and it turned out to be much harder than everyone ever thought?

Didn’t do it, rather I signed up for 3 laps of the first gorrick 100 whereas the big boys were on for 7. But the gorrick boys had marked out half a lap each, and in a spectacular display of coordination but went significantly over, making the 10mile lap more like 13. Add in heatwave conditions, and some of those boys looked proper broken at the end.
