  • Hands free car kit – standalone or integrated stereo?

    Hello,

I popped into halfords today intent on buying a Parrot hands free kit for the car. The guy advised me against it and recommended a new stereo with built in hands free as it’s “easier all round” and works out about the same price. I obviously want to be able to make calls whilst driving but I’m also keen on integrating my iPhone so I can listen to music etc. from that too. The specific units I’m looking at are the Parrot 9100 and the Alpine 103. Any experiences of either of them? My main question would be about the quality of call through the Alpine.

    Cheers

I’ve tried both options – biggest issue I had with the standalone optionw as getting it loud enough at motorway speeds to hear the other end of the call.

Unless you’re planning on changign car shortly I’d go for the stereo approach – it’ll automatically switch to the call when you get phoned as well.
