    You really need to stretch calves, glutes etc as well rather than just hamstrings in isolation. My physio gave me some absolute beauties – there are loads on youtube as well.

    The ones that work best for me are active stretches, where you’re pushing against the stretch with the hamstring as opposed to just trying to extend it.

    These will be used in conjunction with other stretches. Just need to resolve a problem specific to hamstrings.

    Really hard to describe some of them as they were demonstrated and I can’t find ‘online’ versions.

    Simplest one is a doorframe stretch – lie on back, one leg vertical , heel against frame, other leg flat through the doorway. As you straighten the leg into the stretch, actively push with the heel against the frame for 10 secs, then relax foir 10, shuffle your bum forward a bit to increase the angle, repeat – about a minute’s worth each leg.

    Using a foam roller may help a bit too.
