Is there a worse company than GWR in the U.K.

On Saturday they had an major signalling failure and their response to my wife and six year old twins (on a day trip to London) was… comeback tomorrow as your tickets will still be valid

They would have been stuck in London overnight….

Leading to a 200 mile car journey to rescue them.

It’s not really anything like United is it?

signal failure isn’t their fault. Trains ran, albeit heavily delayed. Meh.

    Ryanair?
never been on a flight that was delayed, never had luggage go missing, never been bumped off a flight, was once about 10 minutes late in landing.

You’ll need to elaborate on the part where GWR kicked the crap out of them and dragged them outside

What would you have liked them to do?

Not sorting out onward travel or caring for their customers is their fault.

Everyone accepts that thing go wrong, it’s what you do when they go wrong that’s important. That where GWR fail.

Yes – what should they have done?

Trains get delayed. Also, motorways get blocked, and cars break down, flights get cancelled. Shit happens, deal with it.

They did sort out onward travel – trains were running, just heavily delayed, for reasons out of their control.

Dunno where you were coming from that was 100 miles from Paddington, but trains were leaving to Plymouth, Exeter (via Swindon/Bath/Bristol), Oxford, Malvern and Swansea on Saturday night.

Maybe they could get someone round to your house next time you go to the toilet and hold it for you while you pee too?

    28. What happens when things go wrong?
28.1 If disruption prevents you from completing the journey shown on your Ticket,
any Train Company will, where it reasonably can, provide you with
alternative means of travel to your destination, or if necessary provide
    overnight accommodation for you.
28.2 In other circumstances disruption to train services may mean that you are
entitled to compensation or a refund on your Ticket. The next section
explains your rights to refunds and compensation.

So what actually happened? They walked into the station and saw a board that said train cancelled and tickets will be honoured tomorrow? Did they follow it up with staff at the station or just leave it at that?

Oh an yes, I’d vote Ryanair, bumped half our family (2 adults, 3 kids, offered to carry up to 3 people only) on a return trip from Spain, two went ahead, three had a comedy of errors overnight return via Dublin, then they quibbled our expenses and compensation.

Yourguitarwhatever clearly you work for GWR

No GWR said you can come back tomorrow. Offered no assistance or made any attempt to comply with clause 28 above

Still don’t believe that’s it. What time? Trying to get where?
