Cracking film. The fact that after all that he turns out to actually be a genuine psycho in the end is genius 🙂

One of my top all time films, and largely responsible for my crush on Minnie Driver.

And the way everyone thinks he’s joking when they ask what he does and he tells them he’s a hitman.

Cusack is quite active on twitter and still acting. Was in shortlist mag a few months ago. Not sure if that’s a london only free mag. Grifters is also a great film as is high fidelity.

one of my absolutely favourite actors and a great film.

And he’s in an adaptation (not a great one though) of one of my favourite novels: “Midnight in the garden of good and evil”

Cusack is in the new David Cronenberg film – saw the ad and it looks pretty good

JC has been in some awful films over the years (read an interview with him the other day where he was pretty honest about it)- but he’s an actor I always enjoy. My favorites

The Sure Thing (so so good)
    Say Anything
    Grosse Point Blank
    The Grifters
High Fidelity (I know it’s not the best film ever made or anything but I seem to be able to watch this one endlessly)
    Being John Malkovich
and of course the mighty Con Air 🙂

It shows haw much clout he had at the time that he basically chose the soundtrack based on his own tastes [ good taste I think ] , which makes it all the sadder that he has been in so many turkeys since

Joe Strummer did the soundtrack so that has to help.

FWIW, High Fidelity is actually a good book – better than the film IMO.

Thats what I mean Shaggy , he had the clout to get Joe on board.Bit of a credibility decline since then…….

Not forgetting Hot Tub Time Machine.

    (which I secretly quite like)

John Cusack is great, so is his sister.

The scenes in Grifters with Angelica Huston as his mother…..

Although I have to say, Minnie Driver is execrable. In everything, and very nearly ruins that film. Luckily they managed to keep her bits to a minimum. I wonder how awful the footage they cut must have been ?

Let’s not forget Alan Arkin and Dan Aykroyd. Both come within a whisker of stealing the film.

Also features the best use of a frying pan outside a Vic and Bob sketch.

My favourite bit is when Guns and Roses are playing on the soundtrack (is it Live and Let Die?) and he goes into the mini mart thing where his house used to be – and the same song is now playing in the background in Musak form

The bit with the cyclist done to “I can see clearly now”.

Bobby “Beemer” DeStefalo is the ginger soldier in The Walking Dead BTW.

grievoustimm, that is ace isn’t it, along with the shop guy playing doom(?) on the arcade machine, while they shoot the shop up behind him.

Does a film this old really need spoiler warning.

My favourite film of all time

    Really great film

There is a lot of mention that JC has done many rubbish films. He actively acknowledges this. He has his own production company and says that he does the big budget but rubbish films to invest in his company.

Apparently John Cusack is renowned for being one tough mofo. He is a 6th level Blackbelt in Kickboxing and has trained under Benny ‘The Jet’ Urquidez for years. Danny Trejo (Machete) is supposedly a pretty hard nut and he once said John Cusack was one of the toughest men in Hollywood.

    Seems like a top bloke.

    Simple: Lisa Bonet 🙂

It’s one of my favourites movies too. The Ultimart scene makes inspired use of music.
