Anyone got any good tips for writing one. I am hoping it is a one off so want to try and get it right.

I just winged it when the mic was handed to me. You'll find that the words will come.
Having said that, I did keep in mind the advice of "don't embarrass anyone, regale the audience with the tale of how you met your OH, and thank the bridesmaids".

Your job is to just thank everyone, throw in a few blue gags and bobs your uncle.

thank everyone for coming.
tell a nice story about how you met your missus (go for the choke in the voice, everyone will lap it up)
thank the people you need to (write a list - your new wife, your parents, her parents, bridesmaids, ushers, best man)
hand over to your best man (warn everyone that he is a liar).
Easiest speech you'll ever make.

Use the phrase "my wife and I" always gets a little round of applause and cheer!

Don't use anything off the internet. Everyone has heard it. Thank everyone equally (some people can get the arse if someone else is made out to be the star).
Most of all thank your wife for having you.
You may think this is your big day, in reality it belongs to all the female relatives. They NEVER forget.
