Does anyone still make a good square taper BB? The shimano ones are getting rare, Real have long gone.
Not after Ti or anything real expensive, just good cromo BBs.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

Don’t know if you can still get them but i have a race face square taper BB that you can change the bearings in. Adjustable chainline too.

    I harvest UN72s from eBay 🙂

Managed to get a NOS one from Malaysia for £20.

Not had the need to find a new reliable brand yet…

The UN54s are pretty good though arent they?

I have asked the same question to my LBS. Apparently a spanish company (probably casamasefer) do a square taper one with cartridge bearing and allow cups.

I think charlie maybe looking to find a supplier he can use to source bb’s for his business, rather than buy individual items?

UN54s work for me on my SS ~ only others seem to be Royce and Phil Wood which are tres expensive

Oh – have you looked at Stronglight

I jave one of these in both MTB`s. One firm tap on the cranks ( without the chain on ) and they will spin 4 revs, no problem.

I was after one. Wanted to go UN72/3 which are good kit. Couldn’t find one anywhere, so decided to Phil Wood.

Ridiculous money, but wow, talk about a thing of beauty and a joy forever…

Can change the bearings out too
