Have just been told by a Merkin colleague that, while setting up a new invoicing process I will need to, when addressing other colleagues, “give them a dog and pony”

    Eh? Whassat?

Sounds like you needed one yourself CFH!

Didn’t you ask your colleague…or did you give them a knowing nod while thinking “I hope to **** stw can answer this!”?

Rhyming slang, Dog and Bone = Phone and a Pony is twenty quid. It used to be 25 pounds but now a twenty pound note is refereed to as a pony.
On reflection I think in this case they mean dog and pony show rather than phone them and offer 20 quid!

Lazybike, you’re right temporary loss of cockney on my part. Luckily they are re running Fools and Horses on BBC1 in the afternoon at the moment so I can brush up!
