What's it cost? I want a small window for the stairwell – maybe 40-50cm wide… Just needs to let some light in.

Just had a uPVC one fitted to replace an existing sash (ie, no new opening created). Cost £200 for approx 3ft x 4ft fitted.

Does yours need an opening creating? You don't say.

If it needs a new opening, make sure you add planning and building control costs too.

FWIW the current works at Chez Johnson include the addition of a window a bit bigger than that, that will cost about £600 to put in.

Which was precicely the advice I was going to give had it been a new opening, but after asking the question, Molgrips appears to have buggered off.

Apologies. Yes, it needs an opening.

    £600 sounds reasonable.
