…by charging you a yearly subscription. I paid initially a while ago to get the app and the kids used to love it. Feel a bit aggrieved (tight maybe) to pay for it again.

erm, you can do it for free
use c:geo app if you don’t want to buy the gc.com app
or just download .loc files straight to a normal/proper gps

    Yeah.

C:geo is probably the best option, but it’s not favoured by Grounspeak (geocaching.org) as it doesn’t use their API – they occasionally block it, then c:geo get round it, and so on.

Free on your phone as stated. I preload the target caches before heading out in case there’s no wifi. Otherwise I stump up and create a pocket query and download the result to my Garmin.

    I know.

Many are still free, the good ones not 🙁
c:geo has now limited cache’s – and last couple of times I fired it up in front of a class or teachers, it failed to work. 🙁

You could try Opencaching. It is all free. https://opencache.uk
Though not as many caches as Geocaching.com. You could hide some caches, and list them there (as well as on Geocaching.com if you want).

Given half a chance, people will monetise anything that used to be free.

And given half a chance people will try to earn a living from their work.

    Pokemon go is better tbh.

It’s free only for all the easy caches. Want anything with a bit of climbing/scrambling involved and you can only access via subscribing.

There are two types of membership: basic and premium. Basic membership is free and premium membership costs $30 USD a year, or $10 USD for 3 months.

I did ask 2 hrs ago, but it seems we’re going to have to guess.

I mean, if it’s like £1, then OP is being a tightarse. 8)

    4.63/month or 23.17/year.
Not a lot granted but added on to all the other shite we pay monthly for and subsequently rarely use I just thought no. Especially as when first downloaded it cost 15 quid and that was supposed to be it. And no I don’t have a P either…

Just reminded me to cancel mine, I went premier in June and haven’t used it at all since.
