I'm considering chopping in my commuter for one of these. No reason for a Cx bike really, just realised that with a proper road bike a flat bar roadie is just taking up space.
Anyone got an opinion on the Genesis? Ok, what I really need here is loads of people telling me I should buy it, and sod the bank balance

If I was sure I didn't want to race it then I'd have one. They look a hoot, fast heavy cross bikes are frickin sweet.

I got one a few weeks ago and love it. It's not the lightest bike in the world it has to be said, but it is well comfy and great spec for the money. The disc brakes work well once bedded in, better than cantis, although the chicken levers have been removed already. Rolls really well along forest tracks, towpaths etc. but can feel a bit out-of-control down tecjnical stuff but hey, that's what my mountain bike is for...
Mine only get used for commuting, which is does pretty well.
Cheers all. Just have to weigh it up in my mind then. Do I really want a cross bike? Err, yup 
Had one for nearly a year now and its the bike I have used the most this year (ought to be I suppose as I got it on Cycle Scheme) even took it to France on holiday as it suited the mixture of road/paths/woodland I was riding.
Its not exactly light 25lbs in 60cm IIRC but very stable, fitted a triple to mine now as it makes it even more usable and gets rid of that horrible jump from 50 to 34 
Sell the commuter, don't buy a Cx bike, save the money, use the money for lift assisted fun in the summer... 
If you buy a Cx bike I may decide to never cycle with you ever again

I got one last year - however, it appears that this years one has been significantly downgraded for the same price. Looks like the carbon forks are gone as has the 105 groupset which is a shame as last year it was stunning value for money.
That said, it is still bound to be a good ride

I only know 2 real pedants and they are both on this thread 
monkeyp, try finding many bikes that kept the same spec and price as last year 
"tecjnical stuff"? - ya, for shure, jat is da shtuff we normally ride on da dual shushpension all terrain shycle, no?
Monkeyp - I wouldn't say spec has been significantly downgraded: Shifters, ft mech and chainset is 2010 Tiagra and rear mech is 105, so not really that much different from '09 105. Frame is now Reynolds 725 rather than 520 and the fork is also DB chromo, rather than carbon/alloy, which I prefer. All pretty good for a grand. You even get reasonable pedals with it (M520s).
