Quality, longevity etc? They seem to be on the budget-side of pricing etc.

I had one of the big ones it was really good quality , very well made and well worth the money. Sadly not sure on longevity as wife hated camping so didn’t test that bit. 🙁

I had one of their pop-up tents. It was great until me and the ex broke it while…ahem….trying it out in our bedroom…

Budget is probably the best term, but not in a negative way.

We’ve a couple (2 and 3 man) and they’re decently made, go up well, are nice to use and were cheap – but if I needed a +3 season and/or specialist tent I’d probably look elsewhere.

Was camping last week in This One which is quite a few years old now. Everything still fine including zips and no leaks despite some proper rain.

The one I’m looking at (Lakesbury 5) is a 3,000 hydro rating which puts it in the 3season range? Google says above 2,000 is 3 season? Apologies I’m new to all this so groping around a wee bit. Quite cheap at £125 new.

I bought a Gelert tent back in the summer of 2000. I’m still using it to this day and it survived the torrential rain of South Wales over the bank holiday depsite never having been reproofed. It’s still completely intact, no stitching has come undone, no tears and the zips still work plus it’s a really good design. Fantastic tent I’ll definitely buy another when I have to. Mine is similar to the Gelert Tornado3 on the uk campsite review..

Not had any experience, but the little one man lightweight one is meant to be excellent for the money. I’ve generally heard very good things, and unless you are going to be pitching it in the most utterly horrific conditions halfway up an Alp or something then I can’t see any reason why they wouldn’t be great. Maybe a bit heavier than the pricier ones, but even then they don’t look that bad.

got a Gelert Cadiz. Not used heavily, maybe a couple of outings a year.
Lasted about 10 years now and still like new. No leaks and really stable in high wind (for a 7 foot high tent).

The tent in the background here is a Gelert owned by my mate in the picture, it’s quite happily survived torrential rain on top of a Welsh mountain, followed by waking up in a cloud. Little bit of condensation, but as I said, we were in a cloud…

Anyone a camping and Caravan club member? I’m looking at booking a campsite (welcome to non-members) but you have to book through the club website/not direct and it only gives prices for members.

If I could borrow a login as a one-off. If the hora’s like camping I’d then spank up the 40 a year membership 8)

I bought one of these.. – incredible quality, both outer and poles are very well made – I paid just over £120 – so far lasted several festivals in appalling weather – dunno if the rest of their tents are that good, but I’d def buy another.

they are like most budget tents made in china, they are reasonable enough for the money, not lightweight though, so it depends on your needs– my wife likes them,she’s bought about three over the years, we use them for festivals, family camping etc, so in answer to your question , they are perfectly good for non extreme use.

Bought a Gelert Horizon8 a couple of years ago and aside from repairing it twice, once from a misplaced lawn dart and once from a tear in the roof due to putting it away/up damp it has been great. Used it over the last bank holiday weekend in Devon when it was really wet and windy and it was great. Needed to get up in the night to check guy lines but all sound!
