I have a Garmin Edge 205 which has been great for over a year now, however, it has just started developing problems. I was wandering if anyone else has had similar and if the unit is fcukced.
Basically it really struggles to get a GPS signal - seemingly randomly. I can have perfect signal on my commute into work, but no signal on the way home. Battery life seems OK (it is still on 3 bars for the return journey).
I have had no problems with signal in the past, even in dense woodland. I do wander if the Transwales may have killed it last year. Maybe some moisture got in and it has some corrosion on the contacts. Or maybe it's software has become corrupt somehow?
Anyway, it is out of warrenty now. If it's a software glitch, is there anyway I can perform a hard reset on the unit?
If indeed it is broke, should I upgrade to an Edge 605? Is it worth it? I have found the 205 excellent for training and it is good to have no wires, recievers etc on multiple bikes. It appears the REALLY cheap 205's that were around in PC World have all gone now so I am loath to spend a lot more than I did originally on the same bit of kit!
