Seeing as Santa brought me a Nuvi 205 for the car, I thought I would register it online etc this afternoon. It offered me a free download on updated UK and European maps – so far I have got 1.3GB of 3.46GB through the 'garmin download manager' and it says another 4hrs to go – wtf ?????

I am hoping that this only happens the first time, seeing as I don't have any of the mapping in my pc ??

any experience ?

I wouldn't complain… I bought a 265W several months ago and it'll be circa £100 for me to update the maps!

yea got a nuvi 200 a couple of years back, stupidly assumed it would be free map updated (dunno why really). Wrong answer. 100 quid later if i want them 😯

oh well :D, Mine came with 2010 version 10, the free update is 2010 version 20. will report back in 4 hrs !
