    FFS. No idea what they keep their files on for updating devices or what sort of connection they’re on but it seems like they have sub-dialup bandwidth outbound to consumer land.

    If they know upfront that the software/maps update for a device (Touring) is going to be around 27 hours why on earth don’t they allow the download cached in the background rather than demanding you do the whole damn thing in one hit – with the device plugged in?

    For anyone else with a Garmin trying to download a recent ride or grab a quick charge before heading out for a ride – DO NOT ACCEPT THE UPDATE UNTIL YOU HAVE A DAY TO SPARE!

    yep, annoying isn’t it :(. I just ignore their maps and use the OSM ones now although the addresses are better in theirs

    Some of the timing problems are down to USB1 being used to transfer a couple of GB to the machine you are updating.
