Looking at modern types from either Dunster House or The Garden Office.

Anyone been through similar choice? Which did you choose and are you happy with it? Looking at approx 5m x 3m.

To me it seems The Garden Office are a nicer design but Dunster perhaps take up less space per m2 of internal floor.

Budget max 15k – any others that we should be looking at?

    Cheers

Get a joiner and build your own bespoke one for a lot less than 15k

I’d be surprised if you could beat a pre-fab office thing building bespoke unless you DIYed.

I’m buying a 20ft shipping container for storage at work.
£1900 plus vat for a new one.

If only my garden was big enough. 🙂

I noticed John Lewis had one on display yesterday! Fairly light weight, not far from from being a shed.

    15k!
That should get you something really special if it doesn’t need much groundwork.

    Enjoy!

Footflaps. Is that labour and materials? Do you have a break down of materials only?

All in for the shell. I dug the footings.

Worked out about £5k for footings (concrete, hardcore, skips), £5k for the walls (blocks, bricks, RSJs, Doors) and £5k for the roof (timber, tiles, veluxes) IIRC.

Thanks. Looking to do similar, nice to have a real life cost to go off to check my estimated costs against.

It was a few years ago and I’ve long since binned all the receipts sadly.

I DIYed loads and laboured for the Brickie etc, so that cut the cost a lot…

I had a Dunster House office at my old house. Was a two man job to assemble over a few weekends. I got a builder mate to lay a slab for it. I invested in all the optional insulation and heated it through the winter with a couple of decent pcs and 3 monitors. The doors suffered with warping a bit but that may have been a humidity issue caused by keeping an 800l fishtank in there.

I have a 8.5m x 4.5m Dunster house model Alexander. I’ve had no problems with it and it’s a really comfy place to work in even in the winter. The guys putting it up were great too.

I asked some of my friends who are carpenters and they all said to get the prefab.

One thing with Dunster house. Contact them for a price and then let it go cold for a day or two. They will come back with a better price.
