I’m upset. A metal support of my BigDug shelving has sheared and is officially a ‘dangerous object’.

Thing is, I didn’t consider that my gubbins exceeded the weight limit of 175kg.

Any recommendations for reasonably priced shelving that will last longer than a few years?

    Thanks. 🙂

If you don’t buy doors then B&Q/Ikea type kitchen unit carcasses aren’t too bad and have very felxible shelf positioning/cabinet sizes etc.

You often get people advertising old kitchens cheap on ebay/free-ads too.

    Ikea Omar shelving
    http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S69829083/

I’ve had them for several years now, no issues and I can’t see them failing.

Thanks, not sure whether the problem was that it should have been dismantled rather than moving it built up. Old kitchen units is a good idea but don’t want anything that needs to be affixed.

The Ikea shelving doesn’t look strong enough for my tyre collection and spares etc.

Nice and sturdy, rated at 150kg per shelf and come in other colours too.

Looks very similar to stuff I picked up in b&q last year.

I’ve got a few of those Machine Mart ones too. The shelves warp a bit if they get damp but otherwise very good.

Any pics of everyone’s shelving? Interested to see mancave pics

My worktable is made of dexian and mdf. My shelving is from my dad’s work, used for storing car parts on – very strong

Not 100% sure if I’ve screwed it to the wall now I think about it

I use the twin slot stuff from B&Q

Simple to fix, infinitely adjustable (width/height/position etc) and cheap! Never had one fail yet!

Quite possibly so,but the garage wouldn’t be big enough to exceed it …… 🙄
