Powered from the TV USB port (which provides power as the phone charges)

Maybe it’s providing power, but not enough? Try an external charger.

The one I had was simply rubbish, it’d display a picture for a couple of seconds before crapping out. I sent it back in the end.

Like I said before….THIS TYPE works fine with my S3. You just need another mains>USB phone charger as well.
