    Following on from this thread:

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/has-anyone-ever-really-removed-a-seat-post-with-caustic-soda

it’s out! Three nights with caustic soda left standing in it, and it’s rotted away and just pulled out.

    I’m open to offers….

What about the frame.? Is that OK?

Frame seems mostly fine. The paint from around the top of the seatpost has come away but that will be mostly hidden by the clamp. Other than that it seems to have survived.

In any event, this bike is to be used for getting to/from school by one of my children. So looking a bit tatty is actually a bonus!

    Spectacular.

Never try to wash alloy components in the dishwash – it has a very hot caustic action, which will pit the finish. Don’t ask me how I know this.
