Having stripped my 5 and built up the blood today I can’t get my front mech to function properly.
Inner and outer cables are free from obstruction. Doesn’t shift up at all as if it hasn’t got enough pull
Haven’t adjusted the stop screws but this is driving me mad! Bike is ready to ride apart from mech!
Any advice would be gratefully received.
It’s a 2012 shimano xt mech and shifter to match

    A few thoughts

Is the mech at the correct height on the seat tube ?

Have you functioned the front mech by hand & witnessed that it can shift the chain properly ?

After having set the shifter to the granny ring position did you pull all the slack inner cable through at the front mech before tightening the cable clamp screw ?

I’ve set the mech a few mm above biggest chainring.
Checked for slack cable but all seems ok, the shifter won’t move over by hand.
Was working fine on previous frame!

so the actual mech won’t physically move even if you use your hand?

Have you routed the cable around the cam on the mech correctly (depending if it is top/bottom/dual pull?

    pics?

It wouldn’t move by hand at first, cable was routed correctly just under too much strain.
There’s a slider that locks in place when shifting up- this had got stuck in position.
Bit of gentle persuasion and its working now!
