My new forks are boost so I’ve bought a convertor cap from hope to put in the non brake side of my pro2/4 hubs, mistakenly believing the wheel wouldn’t need dishing.

    But it does, 5mm.

    Has anyone done this?

I can’t help thinking the wheel would be significantly weakened by such an offset?

Would I be better off just forking out for the wheel?

To plenty of wheels plenty of times.

It’ll probably be stronger seeing as it’s currently ‘offset’ over the brake mount and you’re just moving it back over the flanges a bit.

No (well, maybe, but only if you’re a mechanical clutz, the nipples are alloy or you’re a princess who can detect a pea sized stiffness increase with fractionally wider flanges).

Just do it slowly, 1/4 turn on each of the DS spokes, then 1/4 off the NDS, and repeat until it’s central in the fork. It’s probably about one turn depending on spoke tension.

I have. The wheel will need less dish so theoretically a little stronger.

Edit: Beaten by TINAS with a more complete answer as usual. Wot he says. New wheel totally unnecessary
