Yes, it’s Friday again, at last! So, time for the photography and performance thread. This week, let’s see some sporting renegades, rebels and revolutionaries.

    For example;

“Ze see gulls follow ze trawler….”

Asked on BBC’s Football Focus what the highlight of his career was, he responded:

‘When I did the kung fu kick on the hooligan, because these kind of people don’t have to be at the game.

‘I think maybe it’s like a dream for some, you know sometimes to kick these kind of people.

‘So I did it for them. So they are happy. It’s a kind of freedom for them.

‘So I speak about that because maybe they felt it. Because they felt something special physically. Maybe it was a different feeling.

‘It’s a great feeling, but different.’

Earl Denman, who sniggered in the face of convention and took on Everest by himself (with Tenzing) in 1947. What a guy.

And another epic fail. A guy who wasn’t afraid to do things a little differently. In this case, slower:

I nominate this fella too, you’ll know him, he visits here occasionally..
    Hope he doesn’t mind..

Greame Fuller.. Without him Transition wouldn’t be here, windsurfing in this country would barely exsist, DeKine wouldn’t be here either… I could go on.. and.. and he has an awful lot to say and has on occasion been banned from this site…

I believe he’s now in negotiations with ScotRail.

Willie Anderson stands up to the Kiwis

In front of a 50,000 capacity crowd as Shelford led the chorus, Anderson’s men in green linked arms and began to shuffle forward into the mass of black jerseys.

Shelford and Anderson smelt each other’s breath as the crescendo of the crowd rose expecting fireworks and a bit of argy-bargy before the game even started.

    Erm….
Why does it seem* to be that the sherpas always end up in brackets if mentioned at all?

Thanks for that epicyclo, just wiki’ed mabo.

    I agree.

I included Denham because he was a renegade, not a good climber – illegally climbing on Everest, dodging Tibetan soldiers etc, his ‘solo’ climb ended in abject failure. Tenzing was pretty embarrassed about the whole thing.

And I think this guy is a revolutionary

For being the most un-footballerish footballer ever. As well as being one of the best. we were sat at the next table to him at lunch yesterday. Which 5 star, expensive venue was this? Nandos in Oldham 😀
