    Bought ex-display but new (with 12 month manufacturer warranty) – who is responsible for repair – the retailer or the manufacturer and what are my rights (repair, refund, replacement etc).

    retailer, repair, refund . replace your choice.

    Its not the washer drier from the previous thread is it?

    The retailer because what they sell must be “fit for purpose”, so unless whatever you’ve bought wouldn’t normally be expected to last 4 weeks, they are responsible. You can ask for a refund if you don’t want it repaired or replaced.

    EDIT : Oh sod it, forgot this “Bought ex-display”, don’t know then – was it sold as seen ?

    TJ yes it was. :-{

    Ernie – it was sold as new with 12 month warranty

    I shouldn’t snigger but you do lead a life fraught with trivial disasters.

    Ah, a washer drier, so never been used for display purposes then. Yeah, it needs to be “fit for purpose”, which it clearly wasn’t.

    TJ – I do with this one – original one wasn’t as described and had a fight to get that refunded now this.

    Arse.

    Bought from Currys? My Beko fridge freezer decided to konk out after a week. Got it fixed by curries then it went again. Went back to them and demanded at least 20% off a new alternative FF and I got it with free delivery. Would suggest you try the same if it can’t be fixed.

    No – bought from a small local retailer via EBay that specialise in ex display stuff.

    Turns out it wasn’t broken – spoke to customer services and it has an ‘uneven load’ auto cut-out. It would have helped if the troubleshooting guide had mentioned that.

    “uneven” as in all the clothes in the bottom of the drum?
