Will be doing the 4 Passes this weekend if the weather gods smile.

I seem to remember reading some comments somewhere about alternative sections around Honister Slate Mines to Gatesgarth. I assume this would be the direct path over Fleetwith Pike??? Anybody done it/recommend it?

I’m sure I’ve done the bit you mention, on a different route though…is there a reason you want to miss out Warnscale Beck?

Not done it before and had heard something about avoiding it but having just found this previous thread, I think I might have wrongly assumed it was to be avoided.
GaVgAs comments in there that it’s one of his favourites and he’s usually a good indicator of a worthwhile descent 😉
I’m particularly drawn to excitable1’s description

big massive drop offs and rocks – I’m thinking Rangers path on Snowdon on steroids

so on that basis it’s “IN”.

Yeah, don’t miss it out! I thought you’d maybe done it before, so were looking for a different route. The only problem can be the amount of walkers on there.
The only reason I stopped to take this pic was because I had to repair a slice in my tyre…don’t ride down the spoil heaps in the mine!

I hope this works. It’s my first time posting a pic. Fleetwith Pike

Thanks Harris, link worked but not as an insert pic.
I take it this is the bridleway rather than the footpath over the summit?

Cracking trail that. I rode it a few years ago and just remember grinning like a loon at the bottom.

I’ll be riding somewhere in the Lakes this weekend, the guide mentioned Garburn pass. I hope it’s worth the 6 hour drive south 😉

Garburn is not that great IMHO Swavis, it’s just a short rocky blast. You’ll be disappointed if you’re coming 6 hrs South just for it.

It is, it’s just before what you can see in my photo.

It’s going to part of an epic day apparently and whenever I’ve been down to the Lakes I’ve never left disappointed. I’ve not done Garburn but have seen a few vids and it looks good, I’m sure there’ll be other fun sections too.

    Getting quite excited 8)
