Does any one know about these.

I’m currently having a service done on my car, the oil sump is rusting and has begun leaking so that’s fine.

I’ve looked online and can find one that fits for £50

However the garage wants to charge £150.

Now he is doing an oil change for the main service. Does that involve removing the sump. If it does what is he charging an extra £100 for?

no need to remove sump for a service.

removing sump can often involve getting lots of other bits of under car kit out of the way to acheive.

has he broken it down into parts and labour?

    £60 for the sump
    £18 for the seal
    1 hrs labour at £42.5

    all plus vat.

To be fair Ian, if thats for a replacement then that isnt a bad price at all. The thing is, you say your current sump is rusting and is leaking, does it actually have a hole in it or is it just leaking around the actual sump plug? Is your focus a 1.8/2.0? I think the 1.4 and 1.6 had an aluminium sump which wouldnt corrode in that way.
