I should add that there will be a big after show party at the Bath screening, Biketreks and Cyclesurgery are organising big charity raffles for the London and Ambleside screenings and that Red Bull will be present at several of the shows with the possibility of some Red Bull athletes being there on the night to do a Q & A post screening.

I'll do my best. It would be great if we could get a big turnout for that screening (as indeed with them all). I've tried to get the tour in as many venues as possible this time round following the sell out Seasons tour in 2008.

Sanny – 10/10 for sorting that out.

What a great film, some lovely stuff, the bits from New Zealand towards the end were like UK trails….but nicer, and a brill soundtrack too. Great evening. cheers

Really enjoyed that, cheers Sanny! Don't think Follow Me is the classic I was expecting really but it's still more than worth the price of admission alone even without Seasons as a piggyback. More of this sort of thing!

I thought the soundtrack was awful. Film was good but a bit short.

The experience was ruined though by the absolute reptile ned that sat in front of me and proceeded to get hammered through the films and talked at the top of his voice.

If you're reading this, you were wearing a stripey blue jumper, your mate was a tall skinhead with a mercedes t shirt and your other mate was called "dave". Learn to shut the f*ck up in the cinema, nobody is interested in listening to you plus you're a drunken embarassment.

    I hope your next shite's a pineapple

Thought the Flim Last night was great and the whole double bill thing worked really well, also thought the best section was the final atherton / smith combo

My only comment is that this being my first visit to the GFT I was a bit disapointed by the screen size, picture quality and sound quality, maybe for the other films that were mentioned last night cineworld or somehwere would offer a better viewing expierence??

    iainc

aye, there were some great bits of soundtrack, similarly would like to get a few of them – no links on the website yet

    had a good night too.
thought the soundtrack was good. film was rather short though, seasons seemed to go on for quite a while, but the ending of Follow Me was a little abrupt… anyway, was a good film, agree that the NZ bit was the best, also liked that blokes back garden…

echo the comments on the size of the screen though, was tiny. and i'll never understand all the rude twunts who thought it was polite to be getting up all the time through the films to fill their pint glasses whenever it got empty – i was up at the top, people going all the time, quite frustrating.

did manage to get 4 of the red bull shots from the ladies at the end though, that worth a fiver at least!

    Cheers guys!

The projector is a high quality digital projector. The source is DVD. Moving to cineworld won't make any difference to the image or film size on the screen. However, for all the other screenings, I'll be asking the cinema to use Blu Ray players as this will upscale the quality. I'd love for the guys to film in a 2.35: 1 widescreen ratio but they don't so we're left with the smaller ratio for the screening. On the big screen, you really get a feel for just how big some of the riding has become. The Matt Hunter sequence where he jumped onto that cliff was mental!

As for screen size, I'm strangely reminded of the father Ted conversation about the cows being small or farther away. The GFT is a big auditorium so if you are towards the back, the screen always appears smaller than it really is. Hence why I always sit right at the very front! Well that and I'm blind without my glasses!

The film will be released on HD but it can be a trickier format to get right and I didn't want to take the chance of the film not playing on the night.

Lifecycles will come as a Blu Ray copy and will be on a 5.1 Dolby platfrom so should look pretty amazing on screen.

Glad you all enjoyed the night (well, apart from Boardin-Bob! 8O)

    Cheers

cheers for the reply Sanny but still the screen for the size of the room is tiny, and what you seem to be saying is that for anyone who cant get a seat in the first 10 rows will just have to accept that?

if you had a room that size in a normal cinema the screan would be twice or three times as big

I get that its supporting small local business and thats great by me.

Anyone know if you can book out the IMAX? that would be somthing

having sat at the back of large cinemas before, i can confirm that the screen last night was DEFINITELY small!!!

still, a good night, and i'd love to hear about the other premiers you mentioned last night, especially the one by the guy who made 'home', as i think a mate of mine is featured in the film…

    cheers

    Hi Enduro Aid

The format limits the width of the projection unfortunately. The screening used the full height of the screen but because cinema screens are set up for a 2.35:1 aspect ratio and mountain bike films come in around 4:3 or at most 16:9, they're always going to appear narrower than you get used to with a normal Hollywood blockbuster. It's a fair comment but it's not something that will change until film makers switch to a wide screen format.

As for IMAX, the copy would have to come set up for IMAX projection. No one is filming mountain biking using IMAX cameras. They are still super expensive and the limited audience appeal would make the films commercially unviable. So I totally agree, it would be great to see the films even bigger but we're currently limited to what we can do. 😯

    Cheers

    Sanny

PS Totally agree about the Smith / Atherton section. Awesome! NZ= like Scotland only further!

I say we have a STW whip round and help pay for a new film to be done in IMAX or at least have a current film upscaled to run on an IMAX screen

Thanks for all your efforts Sanny – it's great to see mountain biking on any size of big screen! Loved the NZ section especially – top film and looking forward to more later in the year.

Sounds like you were getting interupted by the roaster in front of me as we were in the 2nd row from the back right in the middle and he was up and down like a yo yo for booze. He took an age at one point and I was praying that he'd been thrown out 😆

oh that numpty! We were on the end of the back row on your right hand side. He was even getting on our tits.

Good film though, just a bit surprised when it ended, it just seemed to be getting going.

    Wow

    Wow
Was like how I ride my biek just a bit faster, more skillful and with balls slightly bigger than mine. Some incredible footage, well filmed, well put together, alright soundtrack. The QT section showed some of the nicer tracks.

Well done again Sanny. Really enjoyed the night. The screen is bigger than my tv so that's good enough for me 😉

bring on those other screenings as well!
