i’ve been running flatbars recently and have decided that they are the future for me but the bottom of the shifters will strike the top tube if “over” rotated. what solutions are there based on not wanting to add spacers beneath the stem or increasing the stem rise angle. would woder bars cure the issue as i’m thinking that at 580 they feel a bit too narrow.

what wide{r}650+ flat bars are out there prefer aluminium not carbon!

Matt – i compromise a touch on the angle to make sure the brake levers can not hit the tt (ie slightly ‘flatter’), then take the shifter windows off to get them tighter to the brake levers – if the combination of angles still means that the underside of the shifter body still clashes – put ‘copter-tape’ on the top tube!

    Gripshift will work just fine.

tape isn’t an option due to the top tube being made of “plastic” ans there are no windows to remove but grip shifters sound like a way forward.
