Just finished my new Ragley mmmbop last night and took it out today for a test ride. Pedaled up a huge road climb and took it down a proper downhill track. I was impressed with the climbing when the fork was wound down to 100mm. I found it just as comfortable as my trek fuel for the climb, but the big tires dragged it down a bit. Within the first 5 minutes of the descent, I proceeded to blow out brake fluid from a brand new avid elixer caliper (lever straight to the bar), pinch flat a 2.5" front tire on a flow rim, and break something inside my rockshox rev. The fork now dives through the first 40mm of travel and makes a clanking noise each time it passes this point in the travel. Mind you, I've been riding these same trails on an older Trek fuel ex for a couple years with no serious issues, and then first time out on a so called "hardcore hardtail" and all this happens... WTF??? I think the slack head angle and longer fork than what I'm used to gave me the balls to go bigger and faster than normal and that's why I ****ed it up. definetely regret not stepping up the the lyric which at the time I had the oppurtunity to get for 30 quid more. So far, I'm not overly impressed with the mmmbop, I think the shyte test ride and all the damage left me with a bad first impression, but I'm hoping it will grow on me!

So your riding style on a HT and component failures = bad frame?

"So your riding style on a HT and component failures = bad frame?"
Absolutely not, It's a great frame actually, but a crap first ride and and if there's anything I have to blame it would be the revelation fork which took a Sh=*& in the first five minutes of use. Also, it was the first time on a hardtail with a long fork and it just felt a little wierd coming from riding full suspension bikes!

Don't blame the components, blame the rider.

yeah agreeing with chunky here. Seems as though it did what it says on the tin though?

It took me a couple of weeks and some frustration to get used to my mmmbop. But now i love it, but some people don't and thats fair enough. You need to ride the fork more.

Possibly slightly optimistic to ride a dh run to shake down your bike build. Hope it gets better.
