I’m trying to do the seemingly simple and buy a network card, but it must have a intel 8255x-based chipset. I’ve tried googling and only get drivers, I’ve tried ebay, scan, etc and can’t find anything.

Does anyone have a good strategy when you requirements are specific?

It needs to be based on this chipset as it is a custom drive for a particular application.

    Email a few manufacturers?
Email Intel and ask if they know who uses it?

Might not be a good idea to develop something that is so specific though.

Its a common bit of software in the industry I am working in but usually custom industrial p.c. are used, however for my test setup I don’t need a expensive custom ipc, just a compatible ethernet adapter.

Try looking for 82550, 82551, 82557, 82558, 82559 instead. Plenty on eBay or google shopping.

Look at the spec’s for the PC that have the card you’re looking for. That should give a makers name.
