    S’up chaps

Got a few days holiday to take before Xmas and was looking to ride some new routes. Will be consulting with my usual riding group this evening but more than likely be on me lonesome.

    Anyone ridden this route?

Like the look of this with the section around Llyn Cowlyd looking pretty remote. Stay in Betws-y-Coed?

Any thoughts welcomed, I would be looking to do this one day and maybe a smaller ride like Penmachno the day before.

I was hoping for pics of a younger Catherine Zeta-Jones. To whom do I complain?

I’m glad nobody has posted any advice yet as I have just thought that it’s really a bit too far to travel at this time of year, going to look at something closer to home I think, Peaks or Long Mynd being the most obvious choices but finding something new is the challenge.

IMO it’s the wrong way round, it’s a better route clockwise.

I’d suggest starting in Capel Curing behind Joes, take the BOAT NW to gwern gof isaf, back on the road to the bridleway that heads E but as soon as you can head up to the leat and follow that round to the head of Llyn Colwyd. Follow the lakeside path to the road, up and over to Trefriw (definately not riding the cheeky through the woods 8) ). Follow the B5106 south for about a mile to a small track that cuts uphill to the minor road by grey mares tail, do the 1st climb and last descent of the Marin at the bottom go left up the forest road to pick up the Marin Trail at the bottom of the 1st descent and follow it to the 2nd road crossing. From there take the road to llyn geirionydd and take the footpat across to llyn crafnant. From there head up and over on the bridleway back to Capel Curing.

One of my favourite routes, mixes out there trails fun trail centre and pretty much all rideable all year.

CFH – I only live in Derbyshire, I haven’t adopted all their strange rural quirks.

Bit concerned about my son though….

There is a route guide for the long minge at http://WWW.mtb-shropshire.co.UK
Hopton woods and the stiperstones are worth a visit too.
