Memories are not made by staying in and drinking coffee but by staying out and drinking wine

That looks heavy, mind you don’t drop it on your foot or anything.

Planning on replacing the threaded bolts propping up the slate with engine valves when I can get some.

is it slate i thought it was a piece of steel plate ? would look better with a thinner piece of the base wood i think …. to busy material wise at the moment.

the top just doesnt look right at all – its too skinny/tall …

maybe 3 pistons with their conrods welded atop the block and slate on top of the crowns would give it a better proportion ?

I’ve seen a Napier Deltic piston ashtray which was pretty cool.

    Is the block a Rover?

Rover V8 from an old Morgan Plus 8

Agree with the comments about the slate top looking wrong / unfinished. It was made with what I had. I will look for a better solution

Instead of 8 wine bottle holes, could you keep one bank of 4 with the manifold attached and have the table section supported by a custom exhaust? Or two cylinders from each bank if you want to keep it symmetrical?

That’s fantastic! I’ve got my old Mini engine sat in my parent’s garage, gives me an idea 💡

Careful, the mini is a steel block right?

You will need to seal it really well to stop the rust creeping in.

Mine is Ali with just steel liners where the bottles go, those bores have about six coats of lacquer

I’m thinking a painted block with polished and lacquered bare metal. Maybe some LED’s in the bores for a low light glow effect 😀
