    Can't believe nobody suggested calling a locksmith!

    At 10.30pm, there wasn't one locally

    You hit you glass 3 times and only then decided to have a go at pressing the button! How much damage have you done to the window

    No damage at all! I am a wimp clearly. The button would only work with the key turned in the ignition. Being no mental hercules either, it took a while to realise.
    Calling the AA/RAC would have cost more (home start etc) and taken ages. Window excess is £70

    Only works when the 'knob' has a 'bell end' to grasp

    stumpy – I may have pressed the lock button while faffing with the key, but you would think……… German efficiency.
