Man in Black has to be in there somewhere.

The last American Recordings and the one with the Mercy Seat, can never remember the numbers.

    Live from Folsom Prison.

    Murder compilation.

    Mate, just get another i-pod.

I can’t afford to buy a new one. I think I might just remove some other music from it to make more room.

When The Man Comes Around & Hurt.

On a more light-hearted note though, Ring of Fire always makes me smile (must be all the chilis I eat) and the song he did about San Quentin jail is good.

Big Johnny Cash fan here – time for a new Ipod! Or a clear out of your current 8Gb.

It’s got to be Hurt, think Johnny Cash does it better than NIN.

The song contains one of the saddest lyrics ever “Everyone I know goes away in the end” To make it extra sad, his wife is in the video but died before the song was released.

    Live at Folsom Prison,
American recordings the first and third are my favourites, but I’d pick the first if only taking one.
Any greatest hits/best of package that takes your fancy.

And I’d take a Steve Earle album if you’ve not got any (or 4) instead of a fourth Cash outing- El Corazon, Jerusalem, Copperhead Road, Transcendental Blues..

    Heretic!!!!!!!! 😉

You needed to experience Hurt being performed live by NIN. The various DVDs available give you an idea but tis not the same.

Oh and highclimber, get a bigger music player

read above: i’m poor and my ipod is good enough, just not big enough to have everything at once on it though that’s not a major problem as I can just swap albums around

Thanks for the suggestions, just been listening to the American IV: the Man comes around album. loving it.

At Folsom Prison the entire unedited version, end of story.
His version of Sunday Morning Coming Down would be the single I would add.

    One and Hurt.

The NIN version I heard was rubbish in comparison.

Personal Jesus – Best Depeche Mode cover yet done IMO.

Live at Folsum – it’s a perfect album.

    From the American Recordings…

III is my favourite, but if I had to choose just one song it would be ‘If you could read my mind’ from V.

The way his voice breaks throughout sends shivers down my spine.

His cover of The Mercy Seat is brilliant IMHO.
He has a decent stab at I see a Darkness on the same album.

Don’t take your guns to town is a good one from back in the day. Think he also does a version of 16 tons which is a great song.

One piece at a time, fun. Hurt – brilliant recording, different from NIN. Albums? Man in Black, At San Quentin, The Man Comes Around, American Recordings (big black coat, 2 dogs on the cover).

I have seen NIN live, was 2005 at Manchester Carling Apollo. Yes Hurt live by NIN is certainly something to see. Just Trent on a grand piano with no other backing musicians, absolute silence in the theatre. A truely unforgetable experience!
