Roots and Rain (http://www.rootsandrain.com) has been the best place for DH and Enduro results and race photos for a number of years now. As of a couple of weeks ago it’s spreading its wings into XC.

The basic premise behind the site is a collection of race results that are linked together on names, so that you can click into any rider and see their race history. E.g. Philip Pearce:

It’s great for race photographers too, as the tie between rider bib and names that the results give allow anyone to tag any uploaded photos. Just type in the number on the front of the bike and the rider’s name will pop up. E.g. here’s Giles Drake’s photos from Whinlatter a couple of weeks ago:

The site is completely free for riders to use, and completely free for photographers to upload/store their images. There’s a small commission on any photos sold through the site, which is what enables me to dedicate the time and resources I do to it.
There’s over 3000 sets of results stored in the database currently, with results from over 50,000 unique riders. Soon there will be over 1,000,000 photos stored on the site.
The site isn’t fully optimised for XC stuff yet, but it’s getting there. There’s some things I want to improve, and a whole host of awesome features that I want to add. In the meantime though I’d love to get some photographers signed up. On the DH side of things I have *hundreds* of trackside photographers using it – pretty much literally everyone who takes photos at a race in the UK. They’re convinced, I just need to spread the word to the XC ‘togs!
I hope you guys can see the appeal, and can help me spread the word so that it becomes as useful a resource for XC as it already is for DH.
