I enjoyed staying here James. 1/2 mile away from Coed-y-Brenin too if you can take a bike 🙂

you going to narrow it down a touch
NW Wales is quite a big place, what do you want to do
cycle, beach, walk, pubs close by

my choices would be Bagnol at trearddur bay and riverside in betwys y coed
or cwm llannech (sp) also near betwys

The site in Beddgelert also called Cae Du is nice. Not so far West though…

    Stayed HERE a few times.
    Thoroughly recommended.
Has secure bike storage & washing area also.

Better than those chav infested hell-holes around Barmouth.

Thanks all – sorry should have said ideally near to beach (or within short drive)

Cae Du is on the beach, albeit a rocky one. Really is magic sitting there with a camp fire, watching dolphins swim past.

If you go along the beach, about 200 yards south, then there are a couple of really large rocks that create almost a pool, with a flat shelf to walk out on, really nice place to swim/paddle, loads of rock pools.
